BEE-KEEPING PROJECT

Poverty has been the major driving force to overutilization of Natural resources especially in Wildlife management areas including Enduimet Community Wildlife Management area. Communities living adjacent to these Wildlife Management Area are constrained with limited resources making them depend solely on Natural resources in the area including wild animals and the trees for charcoal making.

Alternative income generating activities are therefore of utmost importance to rescue the rural poor communities in Tanzania from hunger and famine and the natural resources from overutilization. Beekeeping has double impact i.e. income generation and conserving forest which helps to reduce the impact of global climate change this put a need to help the community to sustain their needs and conserving nature.

Therefore Enduimet Beekeeping Project aims to improve the livelihood of the community living adjacent and within the WMA by enhancing practicing of sustainable beekeeping activities as one of the income generating activities while enhancing the conservation of WMA by:

Training of better on how to deal with bee-keeping activities and methods to maximize production.

Bee-keeping groups formation in the community and providing the groups with modern beehive to enhance more productivity.

Training the local community in value addition of bee-keeping product to expand the market for their products and use of the product in improving the families nutrition.
