WOMEN ENTERPRISE

Women are the cornerstone in ensuring the family basic needs are available in the most African community. Empowering women to have access to income for day to day family support is of utmost importance. Our programs empower women to develop conservation-related enterprises to enable them to obtain daily bread and other basic needs while engaging in conserving natural resources. Various projects such as Manyata for beds, Vicoba/Sacco’s, Granary help women in supporting a family.

SINYA MANYATA BEDS MAKING PROGRAM

The Sinya Manyata established by FEES in partnering with QOA association and the local women in Sinya area. Sinya is one of the driest parts in Enduimet in most season of the year, the soil in the area do not support agriculture this made the community in the area to depend on only one source of income which is livestock product selling which is also now affected by climatic change, this has put women in difficult. The Manyata was made to help women to generate income through beds making and ecotourism. The Manyata hosts women of Donyomali village whereby they are being trained by Naramaatisho on how to produce quality and standard beds that can be sold in Europe and in other areas. The women of Donyomali village are enthusiastic and participative in the programme as it supports them with income to support their daily family life

WAMSOE PROGAMME VICOBA/SACCOS

Wamama Songambele Enduimet (WOMSOE) was established by local women working to eradicate poverty in their community. FEES and Terre et Faune are partnering with WOMSOE to help them to build a granary to store their cereal produce and sell it later to the community at a fair price. The group of 300 women aims at completing the granary by 2020. Work towards eradicating poverty rests on empowering women economically, socially, psychologically and physically. We work with the women of Enduimet through seminars, home visits, and community gatherings, educating them about storing food, saving money, a balanced diet, kitchen gardens, managing small businesses, and knowing their rights. We also work in increasing the level of educating children and especially girls to make a better society for Enduimet community by the year 2025.
